Born in Canada, fluent in English (C2 level) & French, I’ve lived in Hungary (2000-05), Monaco, Italy, Mexico, Spain (2013-23), and Antigua (2023-24), and I enjoy new challenges—sailing, hiking, & building my own house.
I’ve studied eight languages myself, so I understand the frustrations learners face. I began teaching French in 2017 at a university near Barcelona with 120 students and have since worked with doctors, engineers, expats, NGOs, researchers, and businesses...
Supportive and adaptable, I adjust each lesson to your goals and style, offering clear explanations, structured courses, and insights into both Canadian & European French.

- I need to leave the lesson at the end time in order to not be late for the next one.
If you have any important questions, please start with those.

If needed, please reschedule the lesson at least 24 hours in advance.
If not, the lesson will be considered completed & paid.

I will wait for you for the first 15 minutes of the lesson.

I had a very positive experience learning French with François. He has a structured approach and teaches in a realistic and practical way, which makes learning French feel manageable rather than overwhelming. Lessons are well planned and focused on building a solid foundation while gradually improving confidence in all four parts of the language.
François is patient, clear in his explanations, and adapts well to the learner’s level. Even someone starting from zero, as well as learners at an intermediate stage, can benefit if they are serious and committed. He encourages consistency and helps you stay motivated without pressure.
His charges are also very reasonable for the quality of teaching and material he provides. I would strongly recommend François to anyone who is genuinely interested in learning French in a clear, practical, and structured way.

I love studying with Francois, it's the highlight of my day. I make a big leap forward with every lesson. He's genuinely invested in my success, this comes through each time. I learn in a variety of ways with him including drills, reading comprehension, recall and speaking, pronunciation, and grammar deep-dives. I have been trying to learn French off and on for many years... I don't think I would be continuing to study French now if I hadn't found Francois. One needs a caring, engaged, and knowledgable teacher and he is that person! I would recommend him to anyone at any level of skill.
