Hi, I'm Louise and I love teaching English. I would be delighted to help you on your English learning journey.
I currently live near Brighton, England, but I have also lived in Beijing, Costa Rica and Spain.
When not teaching, I enjoy walking in the local countryside with my two dogs, reading, gardening, playing the concertina, accordion, violin and mandolin.
I am highly qualified with both the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA. I have been teaching for nineteen years, including 7 years online.
The most common feedback from my students is I’m very patient and encouraging, and that they love the energy in my classes.
I love teaching Cambridge preparation courses - I have many years' experience helping my students achieve the scores they need in the IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE
General English - I explain grammar and vocabulary clearly, and give plenty of feedback
I believe communicative lessons are the most effective, so although we can cover any skill you need in our sessions, there will also be lots of speaking practice.
I think the best way to learn new grammar and vocabulary is in context. My students find this way helps them understand the meaning and rules more clearly. After studying it, there will be more speaking practice to ensure you remember it.
Additionally, I provide more advanced alternatives to the simpler language you are already using well.
I give reading and listening tasks for homework so that we have interesting topics to discuss in the next lesson.My teaching material

I studied for IELTS exam with Louise. Great experience! Louise energizes, supports and encourages you. I received a lot of invaluable information and advice on exam strategy. She constantly suggested synonyms for my speaking in order to make it more diverse and more precise.
It was very helpful to check essays together. She helped me realize that my writing wasn't as bad as I thought. Louise analyzes each sentence in detail, explaining what is good about it, what can be improved and how to do it.
She even suggested how to use symbols £ € º on the exam which I didn't know about.
