I’m Alex: I’m a twenty five years Venezuelan-Ecuadorean chess player, fiction writer and a passionate language teacher. My students say I have a real knack for making learning fun. I love hearing that! I’ve been writing stories since I was nine and my fiction has been published in two literary journals. I’ve played chess competitively since I was fourteen, and have years of experience teaching Spanish through chess. But really, it’s not really about me: I can develop a teaching plan around whatever YOU are passionate about. Spanish through Chess? Yes! Spanish through short stories? ¡Sí! Spanish through Pokemon? I’ve done that too! I've taught at severel levels: from children to teens and adult. So I can use different skills and adjust them to the student level. I drop students, even beginners, right into situations where they need to use the language to solve a communicational problem: for example, how to cope up with a work interview. It’s fun because it’s useful, right from the start. First, when it comes to children (beginners) I focus on vocabulary and grammar, I like to repeat a lot, that's why I consider myself as a very patient tutor. I also got a suscriptions on a few apps designed in order to have a very and funny learning for children. In the case of teens and adults, (beginners) I go over grammar and start from a very important question to begin with, ¿qué hora es? (what time is it?); from that I guide the student through the path that makes them talk about...

Alexandro is by far the best organized Spanish teacher I've worked with on italki (and I've worked with a few). He always has activities planned and things to say to jump start the conversation.
