Hei vaan! My name is Maureen. I grew up and went to school in Tampere Finland but currently live in Mexico. I'm a native Finnish and English speaker but I also speak fluent Spanish. I've also studied German, Swahili, Swedish, Latin, Italian and Portuguese. I have also lived in three continents. As you can see, I love learning about cultures and languages but other interests I have are watching and reviewing movies, reading books, fitness, playing the piano and singing.Me as a Teacher
In my classes we will focus on talking in Finnish in order to increase your confidence as a Finnish speaker. I'm a firm believer of speaking soon because it benefits the language learning process. I am here to help and not to judge - this class is going to be a safe space to practice and make mistakes. The topics of my lessons vary according to the interest of the student. Don't worry if you don't have any topics you would like to discuss - I have plenty to choose from!My lessons & teaching style

The discussions with Mari are always amazing. She speaks in a way that I can understand and follow, she never switches to english, which I love it, because it helps me think and speak only in Finnish, and she is writing during the whole lesson the unknown vocabulary, so that I can easier follow and learn the new words. If you are considering of improving your Finnish, Mari is excellent for that.

I highly recommend her instruction to anyone looking to learn Finnish and pass Yki testi. I feel like my skills have been improved a lot. She always encourages me to communicate in Finnish. Good thing about her teaching style is that she only speaks in Finnish, But in a very clear way so you could understand it all. That approach helped me a lot.
