Hi there! My name is Debby, and I am a dedicated language instructor with over 4 years of teaching experience. I am TESOL and TEFL certified, and I am passionate about helping students learn in a clear, engaging, and enjoyable way.
As a Filipina currently living in the United States, I bring a multicultural perspective to my teaching, allowing me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and support their language goals effectively.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, playing online games with friends, and expressing creativity through singing and dancing. I look forward to helping you build your confidence and succeed in your language journey!

Me as a Teacher
I am fluent in Tagalog, my native language, and I would be delighted to help you learn how to speak it with confidence. As a bonus, I also enjoy sharing Filipino traditions, culture, and must-visit tourist destinations that you can add to your list when you plan to visit the Philippines.
My lessons & teaching style
I am also an ESL teacher who can help you expand your English vocabulary and learn new expressions with confidence. I have experience teaching students from beginner level (Level 0) to adults, and I especially enjoy teaching children.
I also have basic knowledge of the Japanese language, including Hiragana and Katakana. I completed a three-year internship in Japan as a Technical Agriculturist, where I developed discipline, focus, and a strong work ethic.
I enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds and would be happy to share insights about Japanese culture. I look forward to seeing you in my class! 😊

It was my first lesson in a while, and I really enjoyed getting back into it.
Since I’ll be working at a hotel, the expressions and role-playing we practiced were especially helpful for me.
I plan to continue taking lessons regularly to keep improving my English skills.

Thank you for today’s lesson as always.
I look forward to tomorrow’s class as well.
By the way, if it’s a one-hour lesson, would it be better to use the platform provided by italki instead of Zoom?
Or is it okay to just use Zoom?

Deborah is a very friendly tutor. I get really nervous when speaking English, but her constant smile helps me feel relaxed.
She gives me time to speak using the materials I’ve prepared in advance, so even though my English is still not fluent, I’m able to express myself.
She also provides feedback on my expressions, which helps me review and improve.
If I could express more in English, I think we could talk about all kinds of stories and episodes, and it would really help me improve my speaking skills.

She was friendly, so I was able to take the lesson in a relaxed atmosphere.
Since she knows Japanese culture and language, it was fun to talk with her about topics we had in common.
