About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Mark. I’m from Toronto, Canada but I’m now living in England. I am a native English and French speaker and I've also been learning Polish and Ukrainian for a while. I’m a classical violinist and pianist. Aside from music, my other strongest subject was English. In my family, there are many respected language teachers of both English and French. My father is from England and taught English As a Second Language in Canada for decades. My mother taught French in some of the best schools in Canada for decades. My brother is also a French teacher in the school system in Canada. Through my family, I learned a lot about learning and teaching languages.

Me as a Teacher

I developed a passion for learning foreign languages. I have been studying Polish and Ukrainian diligently for the past year and before that, I was learning German, Russian and even some Estonian! I have completed most of the online language learning apps and programs, have read many language learning books, have had many language exchanges and even private lessons.   I know what it’s like to learn a new language and to look for the best teachers/resources! Through all of this, I have gained a lot of experience in language learning and teaching.

My lessons & teaching style

During my many language exchanges, I discovered what English learners struggle with most and I can teach you my own system of learning which I developed for myself! I will design the lessons for your individual needs and level. This could be more formal lessons which cover the complexities of grammar or it could be a more casual conversational approach. I’m very patient and encouraging and look forward to working with you :)
