ESPAÑOL: Adoro hablar sobre cultura y sociedad, estudié Relaciones Internacionales, estoy estudiando para ser intérprete de Chino Mandarín, me gusta hacer videos y presentaciones para enseñar idiomas a mis amigos, trabajé en organizaciones no gubernamentales e hice muchos voluntariados. Quiero dejar mi granito de arena en el mundo :) - ENGLISH: I love talking about culture and society, I studied International Relations, I am studying to be a Mandarin Chinese interpreter, I like to make videos and presentations to teach languages to my friends, I worked in non-governmental organizations and did a lot of volunteer work. I want to put my two cents and make this world a better place :)

Yo personalmente aprendo idiomas entonces entiendo qué se siente aprender un idioma y toda la dedicación necesaria para llegar a un nivel independiente. Hablo con seguridad español e inglés. He estudiado francés, alemán, italiano, indonesio, japonés y ruso. ¡Se necesita perseverancia para lograrlo! Todo esto lo entiendo, y como lo entiendo estoy dispuesta a probar distintos métodos para poder adquirir el idioma. He estudiado por mi cuenta y también con profesores. ¿Qué espero de ti? Que me hagas muchísimas preguntas, seas curioso y ¡disfrutes! - IMPORTANTISIMO/IMPORTANT Por favor considerar que no acepto cancelaciones a último minuto. Tampoco doy clases a menores de 18 años por ahora.

My lessons & teaching style

Al principio querré conocer tu nivel actual. También conoceré tus objetivos personales. Para principiantes, pretendo que comprendas cómo pensamos los hispanohablantes (a un nivel más básico, en niveles avanzados es de manera más profunda). Te mostraré frases básicas, reforzaremos lo que ya sabes. De a poco iremos avanzando con vocabulario más avanzado. Para niveles conversacionales: puedes traer a cada clase un artículo o noticia nueva de un tema que a ti te interesa. Podemos hablar de temas generales también. Si sientes que tienes una buena base pero no logras hablar con seguridad yo buscaré temas con vocabulario accesible para ti.

I only learned basic Spanish in high school (USA) and was looking for more resources to become fluent. Shirley is an amazing teacher with amazing patience, and has tremendously helped my confidence in speaking Spanish after just a few lessons. My grammar and pronunciation have vastly improved with her help. She provides a comfortable environment for you to grow your language skills and provides lesson plans tailored to your abilities and language learning goals. I wish I connected with her earlier!

Shirley was a lovely teacher! She was able to adjust the lessons to specific things I wanted help with. She took great notes during the call, so I can refer to them later to keep practicing. She also explained specific concepts really clearly, and helped make sure I had the time I wanted to practice them during the class. Then she wrapped it up by making sure I had some good practice to work on before the next lesson. She's a great choice for your Spanish learning!
