My motivation is love. I met my German partner while living in France. We started speaking French and English, but soon we started to speak more and more in Spanish, my mother tongue, and his skills improved very quickly. While speaking Spanish with him, I understood a sentences I once heard "If you speak to someone in a language they understand, it goes to their head, if you speak to them in their own language, that goes to their heart". I felt more connected than ever with him, all through the deepness of language and communication. Now I am learning German and I hope someday, when I speak to him in his language, he feels I am talking directly to his heart.

My mom is a french german teacher and my dad is german, as a result from a young age I was already surrended by several languages and I knew the importance of it. Furthemore I live in France but 20 minutes away from luxemburg where everyone speeks at least 2 or 3 different languages. When you want to applied there you have to know english, german, french and even sometimes luxembourgish. There is no better place than living there to see how languages benefit you in the work place. But learning a new language is not just about having a good resume. For me it is also a source of fun and divertissment. I like hearing the foreign sounds that escape my mouth when I speak spanish. I like to try to understand and learn the complex german grammar. I like to differentiate the english accents. But what I like the most is travelling abroad and being able to communicate with foreign people. For the past years I have met so many persons from all over the places and it changes me a lot. I was able to discover new cultures, new people and new friends, which is amazing.

Helping others and empowering people is what motivates me the most. Language skills can be the career gift that keeps on giving: Being able to speak, explain, and negotiate in another language makes you more employable, increases your confidence, and can lead to a great job for example you can be a Doctor,Engineer and pilot etc.

Knowing that many people in my community speak Spanish, knowing that learning a language could open up a whole new world for me that will allow me the opportunity to both succeed and be a good influence to those around me are a few reasons that motivate me to spend countless hours learning a foreign language. Many young people of my age group in the U.S do not see the importance of learning a new language because we are used to having the world pander to us and I believe that is something that should change!
