Hi. A favorite childhood memory of mine would be when I went to my grandpa’s house. It was summer in a beautiful, small town. I learned so many things related our culture. I have friends there but unfortunately my granba passed away and i have never been back to that town.
In North America, English speakers try to use indirect or soft language when speaking of death. Typically we say “my mother passed away.” “Did you hear that Tom passed?” If you say “ my grandfather died” people will be a bit shocked. They won’t be angry. It just isn’t how people speak. On the other hand, when referring to a scene in a movie or someone far away it is common to simply say that they died.
