Guide to the TOEFL - Reading

In this episode, we’ll explore the many meanings of “program” in Chinese! From “项目” to “节目”, “程序”, and “课程”, each word carries its own unique context and usage. How do you choose the right one? Join me as I break it all down with examples. Plus, learn some new vocabulary to level up your Chinese skills：

项目 (xiàng mù)
中文解释：为完成某种目标而组织的工作或活动，一般指比较大的工程或计划。
英文解释：A project or initiative organized to achieve a specific goal, often referring to large-scale undertakings or plans.

节目 (jié mù)
中文解释：在广播、电视或现场表演中展示的内容或环节。
英文解释：Content or segments presented in a broadcast, television show, or live performance.

课程 (kè chéng)
中文解释：教育机构中规划的教学内容，通常指一个学科或特定的学习单元。
英文解释：Planned instructional content in an educational institution, typically referring to a subject or a specific unit of study.

程序 (chéng xù)
中文解释：1. 按照一定顺序进行的步骤或方法；2. 计算机中指一系列可以执行的代码。
英文解释：1. A sequence of steps or methods followed in a certain order; 2. In computing, a series of executable codes.

【スクリプト】
こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！元気ですかー？サウジは先週あたりから日中の最高気温が33℃くらいになり、4時くらいから公園に行けるようになりました！昨日と今日は私が住んでいる地域で久しぶりに雨が降ったんですよ！おそらく、雨は4月からほとんど降っていなかったので、本当に久しぶりです。
今日は「雨の日」について話したいと思います。
サウジでも地域によって違うと思いますが、私が住んでいる地域では、4月から10月の夏の時期にはほとんど雨が降りません。雨は12月から2月に時々降ります。雷を伴う豪雨はあまりないと思います。サウジ人の夫の感覚によると、1.5か月に1回くらいの頻度で雷が鳴るらしいです。めったにないですが、地域によっては洪水が起こる場所もあります。
サウジ人の生徒さんによると、雨は珍しいので、多くのサウジ人は雨が好きです。彼は雨が降るとドライブに行くのが好きとのこと。日本人とは逆ですね。多くの日本人は雨の日があまり好きじゃないです。なぜかというと、日本人は通学や通勤などでバスや電車などの公共交通機関を利用することが多いのですが、バス停や駅まで行くのに濡れたりするからです。また公共交通機関が混んだり、遅れたりするからです。洗濯物を外に干すのは普通なのですが、雨の場合は外に干せません。私が日本に住んでいた時は天気がいいときは外に干していましたが、6-9月に雨が降ると湿度が高く、部屋干しも大変でした。たまに雨が降るのはいいのですが、さすがに週に4日以上雨が降ると気がめいってきます。
一方、私の息子は雨の日も好きでした。雨の日、雨がやんでいたり、小雨の時は、幼稚園の帰りに長靴をはいて、水たまりを歩いたり、ジャンプするのが恒例でした。私は雨の日は嬉しくなかったですが、水たまりで遊ぶ息子の無邪気な笑顔を見ると癒されました。
