Welcome to "Phrasal Verbs Gone Wild", the show where verbs and prepositions get a little too close for comfort! Iâm your host, and today weâre talking about the mischievous phrasal verb: 'get up to'.
When you 'get up to something', youâre doing something⊠suspicious. Your grandma might ask, "What are you kids getting up to?" She doesnât want to hear "Weâre planning world domination" or "Starting a marshmallow fire in the living room." Nope! She just wants you to say, "Homework."
So next time someone asks you what youâre getting up to, just wink and say, "Oh, nothing!" Theyâll know exactly what that meansâtrouble.
Catch you next time, unless youâre getting up to no good!
