Tang Dynasty Love story between Tang Minghuang and Yang Yuhuan Last week, I went to Shenzhen. When I was walking along the the street, I found a bookstore occasionally. I went in and found some porcelain comic books which show some famous folk Chinese stories. I love such books at my first sight, so I bought them at once. It was funny to say that the bookstore sold the books by their weight. We took a few books on electronic scales and weighing, the final price was less than 100 yuan. Today I want to show you one page of the books which was according to a famous poem called "Everlasting Regret". The pictures were show us a beautiful love story in the Tang Dynasty of China. There are two roles of this picture, one is Emperor Li Longji, the other one is a great beauty who's name is Yang Yuhuan. She become one of the wives of the King (Tang Xuanzong) at age 27. Because of Yang Yuhuan's extraordinary grace, she became king's favorite wife. The king addicted to her and had no mood to manage the country anymore. Once a king wasn't concerned about the country things, the country would become out of control, and border insurgency initiated by the Gentiles An Lushan. All of the ministers denounced Yang Yuhuan. They said this woman was the root of troubles and forced the emperor kill Yang Yuhuan. Under such pressure of the ministers, Yang Yuhuan suicided and died at Maweipo. My Grandmother Today, I want to talk about my grandmother, she is already 87 years old.She was born in Shenyang, northeast China, used to be a landlord family. My grandmother told me that her father planted opium and sesame when others grow corn and potatoes, these profitable crops sold well, and later he became a landlord. But even that decade, her father hope all the children be able to go to school which could further their insight. When she was 23 years old, China was liberated. but she was confused, because she did not know what could be happend or changed. After her 30-year-old birthday, she deeply felt the change in her life, because everything which belonged to her family were divided, real estate, food, as well as all the money..., what even bad was because of the identity of landlord, her became the poorest and almost live at the bottom of the society just in 1 month . That hard time, my grandparents took their four children went to the countryside, and do some heavy job. When she was 40-year-old, the Cultural Revolution began, my grandparents had to face their most difficult situations during their hole life. At that time, my grandmother left city, and never had chance to go back to city. They had to live in a remote mining area in North west of China. Living conditions had improved in her age of 60, but she always remembered her childhood. until 2008, when my grandmother was 82 years old, she went back to city life. She told us that people need to calm down even your lifetime always up and down. The peace of heart is the most important thing.

Hukou policy in China Hukou is considered to be the most important document in China, whether you to go to school, get married, buy a house, buy a car or go abroad, almost everything need Hukou as a proof. The Hukou is divided into urban Hukou and rural Hukou. But nether of them is innate, it is conditional. Before you get a Hukou, you must obey the One Child Policy in China. Birth permit is the first step a Chinese pregnant mother needs to follow. I used to be the pity one. (1) birth permits certificate. Maybe you could not imagine that a pregnant mother has no right to give birth in her own motherland, which seams like the little life without state permit is illegal. New life is only permitted by the state, could be delivered legally . If you do not have this birth permits, you have only three choices: 1) abortion; 2) the child does not has a Hukou (It will difficult for him/ her to go to school , to marry , or live a normal life in China); 3) pay huge social compensation fee; We all clearly know that such policy is inhuman, also filled with the stink of money flavor, but we can not change, it is the fact. (2) With birth permits which can be legally get a Hukou. But there are differences in Hukou policy. Hukou is divided into urban hukou and rural hukou, that is, if you have a city Hukou, you are citizen. people who holding rural Hukou are defined as farmers. We all know it is a discrimination policy, but we have no right to protest or change. Therefore, people who hold rural Hukou spent a lot of money to buy the city Hukou, so that their children could have equal right as city children to enjoy the city's education, health care and other resources. There are differences between cities, Hukou in some large cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, is very profitable. People have such Hukou could have more chance and profit in buying house, education and medical care. So, a lot of people are racking their brains trading Hukou, in order to make themselves more profitable. Kukou policy become a tool of meeting people's desires. So, there are so many Chinese people are finding ways to emigrate, or changing their nationality. I think the main reason is because many Chinese feel insignificant because of the policies. People want to be respected in their own motherland.

The Rules of Learning Pinyin If you want to read Chinese characters as accurate as a native speaker, you may understand the phonetics of Pinyin first. Today, I'd like to show you some basic regulations of pronouncing. Pinyin is composed of two parts, which are 'Initials' and 'Finals'. However, there are three kinds of finals, Singel finals, Compound finals, Nasal finals. (1) 21 Initials are below: b [p] p [pʰ] m [m] f [f] d [t] t [tʰ] z [ʦ] c [ʦʰ] s [s] n [n] l [l] j [ʨ] q [ʨʰ] x [ɕ] zh [ʈ͡ʂ] ch [ʈ͡ʂʰ] sh [ʂ] r [ʐ/ɻ] g [k] k [kʰ] h [x] (2) 39 Finals are below: Singel finals: ɑ [ɑ] o [ǫ] e [ɤ] ê [ɛ] i [i] u [u] ü [y] er [əɻ/ɐɻ] -i(si,zi ci) [ɿ] -i(zhi chi shi ri) [ʅ] Compound finals: ɑi [aɪ] ei [eɪ] ɑo [ɑʊ] ou [oʊ] iɑ [iɑ] ie [iɛ] uɑ [uɑ] uo [uǫ] üe [yɛ] iɑo [iɑʊ] i(o)u [iəʊ] uɑi [uaɪ] u(e)i [ueɪ] Nasal finals: ɑn [an] en [ən] in [in] ün [yn] iɑn [iɛn] uɑn [uan] üɑn [yɛn] u(e)n [uən] ɑnɡ [ɑŋ] enɡ [ɤŋ] inɡ [iŋ/iəŋ] onɡ [ʊŋ] iɑnɡ [iɑŋ] uɑnɡ [uɑŋ] uenɡ [uɤŋ] ionɡ [yŋ/iʊŋ] Base on above, please keep in mind an important formula: Pinyin = Initial+Singel final/Compound final/Nasal final. For example: n+i=ni (Initial+Singel final) ; 妮(nˉi) 泥(nˊi) 你(nˇi) 逆(nˋi); 妮子 泥巴 你好 逆天 b+ao=bao (Initial+Compound final); 包 (bˉao) 雹(bˊao) 宝(bˇao) 抱(bˋao) 包子 冰雹 宝贝 拥抱 g+uan=guan (Initial+Nasal final); 观(guˉan) 管(guˇan) 冠(guˋan) 观看 管理 冠名 r+ong= rong(Initial+Nasal final); 容(rˊong) 冗 (rˇong) 容易 冗长

My experience of meeting a thief If you have been to China, you may heard that there are many thieves in major cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou. These thieves are organized in stealing wallets and mobile phones in crowded places. Unfortunately, I experienced once.It was the winter of 2011, I come out from the subway after work. After taking one hour subway in the winter, I felt hungry. So I bought a bowl of Mala Tang on the side of the road and ate there. Of course, there were some other people besides me. At that time, I had a feeling that one person on my left always squeeze me in, I felt bored. and I decided to change location. then I felt a hand into my right pocket.I instinctively grasped the hand, and shouted, "What are you doing?" To my surprise that this man shouted, and I was scared. I let him go of his hand, and less than half a minute, this man and the man on my left run away. Later, the boss of selling MaLaTang said, "The two people are thieves! But we dare not to remind you, because if I remind you, they'll find someone to bash our booth". Until then, I realized that the two thieves are a combination. One of them was responsible for attracting my attention, the other one was taking the opportunity to steal things.

Tomb Culture News Today, I would like to say a news happened in Henan Province. Henan is the most populous province in China. Some people said that Henan has a bad reputation, because more than 30% AIDS patients are living there, and people who from Henan always be considered as liar. Nevertheless, it is located in the Central Plains area of China, and has a long history. They attached great importance to the graves of the family who has died. The graves are round, look like small hills. You could imagine that how many "hills" in Henan, which has the largest population in China. So, local government felt embarrassed, especially when some central leaders inspected Henan, local officer had no word to answer. Could they replied " we have so many graves because we have so many people"? Then, Henan launched a grave leveled policy. After that, 95% of the graves were leveled. However, many local people felt particularly sad, they were afraid that their fathers (father's father...) who slept in the ground may not happy. Some people were against such policy, even against the local government. In order to avoid this sort of things become a conflict, the government decided to stop leveling graves. As a result, the next day, after the issue of this file was just launched, many many "hills" appeared again. After the local people hearing the news, they got up at the middle of the night, called on the family to mound up the graves. You see, how important the tombs in people's hearts. In Chinese culture, burn paper to dead people is also a significant thing. There is a saying that a person who dead would went to Sheol. Burning paper money regularly to the dead person could supported his/ her afterlife.
