Hi everyone! I’m Robbie.
I’m an English teacher from the UK with a CELTA qualification and PhD researcher at Newcastle University, focusing on education, language, and cross-cultural learning.
I’ve taught English in China (你好我的中国朋友!), India, and the UK, both in classrooms and online, and I now teach students from all over the world. This international experience helps me adapt lessons to different learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
My lessons are friendly, relaxed, and practical, with a focus on confidence, fluency, and real communication.

As a CELTA-qualified teacher and PhD researcher in language and education, I combine professional training with research-informed teaching methods and international classroom experience.
I have worked with learners of all ages, from young children to postgraduate students, and I have experience supervising MA-level dissertations and supporting academic writing, structure, and argumentation.

My lessons are personalised to your academic and communication goals. I support university students, postgraduates, and professionals with academic writing, essays, dissertations, and research papers, as well as speaking for seminars, presentations, and interviews.
I also work with younger learners, focusing on phonics, pronunciation, reading, and building strong foundations in speaking and listening.
Lessons may include structured writing support, feedback on your own texts, paragraph and argument development, academic style and register, and targeted grammar and vocabulary. English Language TeacherTaught students aged 4 -16 in classes ranging from 6-16 students.
Assessed students and built lessons and homework activities with their particular needs in mind.
Participated and contributed to workshops and demonstrations with other teachers in the center.
2018 - 2020
English Language TeacherTaught oral English to students grades 1-6 in class sizes of 40, teaching the same curriculum as Chinese staff as well as making my own materials.
Taught special lessons relating to western holidays and cultural events (Christmas, Halloween etc.)
Led presentations in assembly hall to whole grades on English children movies and TV.
Assessed students at the end of term.
Supported Chinese teachers in lesson and activity design.
2021 - 2021
English Teacher - Exam preperation and supportDuring the pandemic, i supported students at my local university and remotely in preparation for IELTS examinations as well as had conversational English lessons to help improve their fluency.
One hour long classes with a feedback document provided to help students recognize not only their weaknesses but also their strengths when speaking English. Improvements with examples were always provided to help them improve in their free time outside of class.
2024 - Current
MA SupervisorSupervision and academic support for MA-level students in education and development studies. Responsibilities include guidance on research design, literature reviews, methodology sections, academic writing, and dissertation structure, as well as feedback on argumentation, coherence, and academic style. Support focuses on developing clear research questions, appropriate methods, and high-quality academic writing.
