I always ask them what they want to learn and if they don't know which topic to learn, I suggest them one. A friend of mine is an english teacher and he has taught me how to teach a language. Thanks to my friend I've been giving language lessons to people who wants to learn about the language. Close where I live there's a town that is full of tourists and most of them don't speak spanish then I've helped them to speak it. Great as always. He uses Google docs throughout the lesson. I find this helps tremendously as he writes out what is being said. It allows you to improve both your reading and listening skills at the same time. It also serves to help you remember how a verb is conjugated, or how to say the word you just learned.
