I guide students of all ages from beginner to fluency. Whether you are starting from scratch, returning after a break, or seeking course support, my structured approach can help you progress to reading classical Latin or the Greek New Testament confidently.
My students have earned top AP scores and gone on to advanced university study, including doctoral work in Classics.
I combine academic rigor with sound pedagogy, making these languages engaging and accessible.

I have an outstanding command of both Latin and Biblical Greek, along with a keen understanding of grammar, syntax, and the historical contexts in which these languages were used.
More importantly, over my 25+ years of teaching, I have developed a strong ability to teach language effectively.
Rather than simply being someone who knows Latin and Greek, I understand both what the student needs to do and what the teacher needs to do to facilitate language acquisition.
Also, as I have studied six foreign languages—several at a high level—I myself have often been in the student’s shoes. My lessons & teaching style
If you are already using a textbook for a course—or simply have one that you would like to use—we can use it as the basis for our lessons. Otherwise, I will help you choose one that fits your goals (see my lessons for textbooks I often recommend). In any case, no previous experience is needed, and everything in our lessons will be geared toward helping you read classical Latin and Biblical Greek with enjoyment and facility.
Furthermore, I have spent nearly my entire adult life teaching teens and children and am quite good at it. My lessons for young people are very much language-focused, but we also have a lot of fun. Students both enjoy their lessons and learn to a very high level.Certificates

Brian Beyer is a fabulous teacher. My daughter has been taking lessons about once a week for almost 5 years now, starting in 5th grade. She has learned so much, and the lessons have been interesting and she looks forward to them very much. She has done very well yearly on the National Latin Exam, and was able to start 11th grade Latin last year as a 9th grader. He also really cares about his students and their growth.
