Namaste, I'm Sahya Devi, a Yoga and Spanish/English teacher
My body was born in Argentina, and 7 years ago I left the country with a clear intention: to re-connect with my true nature, to dive deeper into my yoga practice and to have a more holistic and conscious approach to life
Traveling the world was the method I used to explore outwardly and inwardly, practicing self-observation I was able to let go of many conditionings and have a clear view of myself and my surrounding reality
I then came to the realization that teaching languages was more than just doing grammar exercises and correcting the pronunciation. It was a journey of inward exploration, meant to unleash our best version
Me as a Teacher
Teaching languages was something I was always good at and really enjoyed doing, because I'm patient, kind, fun and empathetic. However, I was looking at things with an old perspective
Now, as a Yoga student/teacher, I approach my language lessons with the same curiosity that I had for my own journey: I believe it's not our intellectual capacity that is holding us back from not progressing the way we want. In most cases, it's our emotional state and emotional blockages that prevent us from shining and using our full potential
With love and compassion, we can make a huge difference in someone else's lives. My motivation is helping you gain self-confidence and be a better version of yourselfMy lessons & teaching style
After living in India for 1 year, I've gained a deeper understanding of my own self, which in return reflects into a clearer understanding of those around me
So when we have a conversation, most likely I'll be able to see beyond the mere words we share. And in most cases, I will give you some feedback on what you can start doing as of NOW to change your learning process
Some things will be practical and can be done right away; others might come as a shock and you might not even like them, but I guarantee that will make you reflect and from that reflection, CHANGE and LEARNING will come

I have had multiple lessons with Andy so far. She has an excellent understanding of adult learning and tailors her lesson around my goals. For example, we spent two lessons translating common phrases from my job. Andy also is very intuitive, and her background in yoga and mindfulness allows her to guide students outside of their comfort zones. Not only are we working on learning a new language, but also learning a new mindset.

My sessions with Andy transcend language learning. My knowledge of and confidence with Spanish has grown significantly since I started studying with her, but I have gotten much more from our time together. With her guidance I now see language learning as like participating in life itself; mistakes are made, accomplishments are achieved, setbacks occur, gains are hard fought and won. And all contribute to the growth of the person and of the soul. I will say this of Andy: you come for the language learning and you will learn a lot. But more importantly, you will be rewarded with invaluable lessons on life.

Andy is a lovely teacher! I had my second lesson with her today. Our time together is productive and spontaneous, which I really enjoy. Plus, her prompts & feedback are very helpful while keeping the conversation going. I can already tell that my vocabulary and comprehension are improving! Thanks to her ability to meet me at my level and challenge me, I’m hopeful that I will continue to make progress 😊
