Spanish Philologist with two Master's Degrees in teaching (4 years+ on italki) My name is Joan, I'm from Barcelona and I'm a Spanish teacher. I have a degree in Spanish Philology and two Master's Degrees in Spanish Teaching, one for teaching to foreign students and another one for working in high schools. I like teaching my language to people, as well as learning new languages. I can speak Spanish, Catalan, English and some French and Japanese. I also like travelling and meeting new people. I'm always interested in learning new things about other cultures. I consider myself to be a patient and calm person. I'm a calm and patient teacher and I can adapt to my student's pace. I like to make sure that my student understands everything and I don't mind explaining as many times as needed. I try to have my student actively participate in class, instead of me speaking all the time and reciting rules and theory. However, I am quite grammar focused and like doing exercises, reading and practising what we learn, so my classes are pretty structured, not just conversation practice about random topics. I am available for either recurring classes every week or single classes once in a while. So don’t worry if you have a busy schedule or if you just need me to help you practice from time to time. Recomiendo a Joan como profesor. ¿Por qué? Porque me está ayudando a entender la gramática, hablamos tanto en inglés como en español. Antes, cuando tenía profesores que insistían en hablar solo en español, no los entendía. Sus clases se adaptan a mi nivel y son interesantes y útiles. Además, me da consejos sobre cómo se habla español de verdad en España, no solo como se ve en los libros de texto o en clase. Joan is a super kind and dedicated teacher who puts a lot of effort into every lesson! He has been helping me prepare for my mock oral exam and even though he wasn't familiar with the exam format and content, he prepared examples and vocabulary for each topic as well as correcting my prepared responses and answering any questions I had. This was also my first time trying online language lessons so I was quite nervous but his friendly and open nature made me feel at ease :)) I would definitely recommend him to anyone - ¡gracias por todo Joan!
