Certified Irish-language teacher, translator and editor ☘️ Heileo! Is mise Caoimhín agus bím ag múineadh na Gaeilge anseo ar italki. Hello! I'm Caoimhín and I teach Irish here on italki. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION I'm a certified Irish-language teacher, translator and editor with many years experience teaching Irish to groups and individual learners. I did all my primary and secondary schooling through Irish, so I've been hearing, speaking, reading and writing Irish since I was four years old. I've learned both Finnish and German to an upper intermediate level as well, so I have a fairly good understanding of how to learn a language as well as how to teach it. TEACHING STYLE I'm a very patient, agreeable person and I believe that people learn best when they are relaxed and at ease. I'm flexible and try to adapt my methods and recommendations to fit the learner's interests and goals. My approach to teaching is very much influenced by the polyglot Lýdia Machová, in that I see myself as more of a mentor than a traditional language teacher. My role is to facilitate learning in every way that I can – to help people find effective and enjoyable methods, establish a good routine, and stay motivated by making steady progress. If you have any questions about me, my lessons, or the Irish language, please don't hesistate to send me a message. I look forward to hearing from you. Tá súil agam bualadh leat go luath. Slán go fóill! I hope to meet you soon. Bye for now!

Irish Gaelic Made Easy – Start Speaking Today! Sé do bheatha! My name is Seosamh, and I’m an Irish language teacher from Ulster. I attended Irish-language immersion education from the age of 3. I’m also a TV presenter on TG4 and Cúla4, two leading Irish-language TV stations, as well as an actor and filmmaker creating films in Irish. In addition to my media work, I’ve taught Irish professionally in NYC, collaborating with renowned institutions including the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan and the New York Irish Center in Queens, as well as offering private lessons. I’m a passionate and dynamic instructor, dedicated to teaching Irish language and culture in a fun, modern way, incorporating media, music and even memes. My love for the Irish language drives my teaching, and I’m a regular contributor to Irish-language media. My strength as a teacher lies in creating engaging and fun lessons, with plenty of feedback and support. I provide a variety of resources, including videos, memes, music, writing tasks and exercises, to enhance your learning experience. Each class is tailored to your individual needs and goals, ensuring your language journey is enjoyable and effective. Afterwards, I’ll email you everything we talked about and learned in class. **PLEASE NOTE:** If rescheduling/cancelling a lesson, please give prior notice—even on the day of the lesson. I understand that life happens, and that same understanding must be returned to me. By scheduling a lesson, you agree to this policy. Let’s work together! :)

Certified Teacher who specialises in helping beginners through stories! Hi! I’m Eanna, an Irish teacher from Ireland. Dia duit! Fáilte romhat! 🍀 I’ve been teaching Irish and English for over 15 years combined, and I’m passionate about helping people not just learn Irish, but actually use it. I’m a big proponent of the TPRS method — Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling. In my lessons, we learn Irish through interesting stories, questions, conversations, and lots of understandable Irish. You’ll hear the language again and again, in context, so that you can gradually start understanding it and using it naturally yourself. I know how effective this approach can be because I’ve used TPRS myself to learn Chinese, and I loved it! As both a language learner and a teacher, I really appreciate being able to engage with interesting topics at my level rather than spending lessons making awkward small talk or simply working through grammar exercises. I specialise in helping students who get very little opportunity to use Irish in their daily lives and who understand more Irish than they feel able to produce. My goal is to give you a relaxed environment where you can hear, understand, and use Irish regularly, without worrying about getting everything perfect. Whether you’re a complete beginner, reconnecting with Irish, or already have some Irish but want to become more confident speaking, I’ll adapt our lessons to your level and goals.

I've done more than 40 lessons with Caoimhín now and he has helped progress my Irish so quickly. I was able to even go to the Gaeltacht and speak order at cafes and restaurants as Gaeilge while also engaging in light conversation. I recommend him if you want to really start speaking Irish.

Sorcha is a friendly , knowledgeable and encouraging teacher. As an adult learner , one of my biggest issues is with actually speaking the Irish that I do have . Sorcha politely prompts me to go back to Gaeilge when I slip back into using English. When I make mistakes , Sorcha will gently inform me of the correct structure that I should have used , without making me feel like a fool. It’s a skill that not all teachers have and along with simple , constructive lesson plans and some homework , makes Sorcha a great choice no matter what level your Irish is at. I’d recommend Sorcha as a teacher and I’m sure she’ll help you with your language journey , on top of that you’ll have met a genuinely nice person , it’s a win win really !

Daniel is such a natural teacher and so well prepared I want to only leave him terrible reviews so that nobody else ever catches on to how good he is! But honesty compels me to give him the highest possible ratings: he is prepared with some of the best produced materials I have ever seen, he is knowledgeable and helpful and encouraging and he's patient, which is helpful for when I've forgotten a word for the 400th time. I can't more highly recommend Daniel for work on Irish, especially if you're a beginner like me.

Rang iontach eile leat, a Molly, go raibh míle maith agat. (Another wonderful class with you, Molly, thank you so much.) I really appreciate how you respond to my needs, how quickly you adapt the lesson, like yesterday when you realized that I hadn't yet learned how to ask questions using irregular verbs. You installed it in a flash before we got on with the topic we worked on. And I also like to talk to you about what's happening around us right now. I really love it that you ask me at the beginning of each class: "Aon scéal?" And then I'm demanded to tell something. And I think that's great, because I'm forced to put what I've experienced into words and try to say it as simply as possible, because my Irish is still at a relatively low level. Táim ag tnúth le bliain nua foghlama iontach leat! (I'm looking forward to a wonderful new learning year with you!)

Éanna is fun to talk with, the classes are fun too because of how chill & professional he is. A bonus for him is when I'm walking, on a bus/luas/train he'll continue to go along with the class, even if it's likely there could be some small distractions e.g traffic & loud crowds. Best teacher I've ever had Go raibh maith agat

Absolutely wonderful first lesson with Eimear! She was extremely organized with her teaching plan and naturally knowledgeable about the Irish language. Her friendly nature immediately put away any nervousness I might have been feeling about taking on a new challenge. She's more than capable of working with someone who has no previous knowledge of Irish and certainly is just as capable of helping to guide someone who wants to brush up on the language if they haven't practiced it in some time. I'll be continuing my lessons with Eimear and would definitely recommend others book lessons with her as well!
