Written Exercise 195 – A RECIPE FOR NUTRITIONAL STIR-FRIED FOOD
Today, I made a dish of stir-fried food (Picture 1 and 4). It was(IS?) called三丝炒肉片 in Chinese, but I have no idea how to say it in English. Here is my recipe. Please take a look at it! Could you please tell me what native speakers usually call it in English if you have any ideas.
Ingredients:
1. Two small size carrots (around 150g)
2. Five small size pleurotus eryngiis (around 100g, the white things in picture 2, 杏鲍菇, how do native English speakers call it?)
3. A small size onion (around 100g)
4. 100g pork meat
5. 15ml oil
6. A pinch of salt
7. Two spoonfuls of soy sauce
8. 100ml boiling water
You can adjust the quantities according to how many people will share it.
I prefer cooking food with less oil and salt. You can adjust the quantities of the seasonings according to your preferences.
Steps:
1. Cut the carrot, pleurotus eryngii and the onion into shreds. (Picture 3).
2. Cut the pork meat into slices or shreds(It is better to cut it into shreds). Season them with 3-4ml oil and a pinch of salt.
3. Heat the wok, add oil and put the sliced meat in it. Stir-fry them for one minute. Then put it on a plate for later.
4. Add the rest of oil and the shredded carrot and stir-fry them for 1-2 minutes, sprinkle a spoonful of boiling water while doing the stir-fry. And then add the shredded pleurotus eryngii and stir- fry them for a further 1-2 minutes. In the meantime, sprinkle one or two spoonfuls of boiling water again. After that, add the shredded onion and meat and stir-fry them for a further 1 minute. Finally, season them with salt and soy sauce. ( If you like spicy food, you can season them with spicy sauce.).
