Men, Women and Money

In a husband, wife relationship (or even boyfriend, girlfriend relationship) how important is that the man makes more money than the woman?.  Is it important, is it non important, do you think it plays a role in their perception of each other?  Does it alter the perception of a woman in any way?  Does it alter the perception of a man in any way? Is the combined income the only thing that matters, therefore as long as the couple has enough to live a decent life, they are happy.

What do you people think about it?

I would love to get some opinions from all over the world on this.

I think it would be interesting.

Thanks.

It really depends on the couple.

My personal view:

How important is that the man makes more money than the woman?.

It's not that important for me, but I prefer the income be almost close, because I think men have kind of pride. I guess they feel uncomfortable when the woman earns a lot more. Or if the woman earns more I think she'd better avoid boasting.

Does it alter the perception of a woman in any way?

For me, the money itself is not that important, the way and the reason that has led man to earn money is more important. The way he spends the money is important also.

Karl Franz, your discussion is interesting !

Men always want to earn a lot of money than women. It must be so. Because women have a lot of other affairs.

But my personal opinion so: it would be good if both man and woman earned normal money. In this case, the relationship will not depend on money, attitude will be sincere, pure.

Someone must not love me for my money. So do I.

The man and woman must support each other in difficult times.

Finally, men must try to earn much money :))))))

Personally, I don't see why a man must earn more than his wife. but than again ive never been married so I wouldn't teally have an educated answer until I was. My father earns more than my mother but I don't think it matters so much as other things. We are Dominican, in our household I think there is a machismo when it comes to decision making and personal things, but in reference to the money, i think it doesn't not matter so much. Once in a marriage I think the money is all going to the same place, therefore it is not that important.

That was an important issue when women didn't own their money and it was desirable that the man could ensure their living.

Today the amount of money doesn't matter at all. Only the people with low self esteem and the gold diggers would notice who makes the most money in the household.

I think that for a lot of woman money/earnings of their husbands, boyfriends are the most important and many times they feel cool because they gain rich guy, even if he is ugly, stupid and empty. I understand that if somebody is chief, director, it is attractive but often some guys are reach because they are from reach families and without connections they are nothing.
