Successfully..as in "..has successfully completed his responsibilities as a lawyer."

Well, what does <em>successful/successfully</em> describe? A noun or a verb?  That will give you the answer.

I was confused whether its describe a noun or a verb, because it's my task from my school and only have to choose successful/successfully in this sentence.
