18 - I would rather/ I had better, past modals... My English classes came back!! My English classes came back on Tuesday, but I was absent from it that day. From this day we have been learning about past modals like ''must have, may/might/could have, can't have and should have''. Besides it we started learning about these sentences: ''I'd rather'' that means ''I prefer'', and I'd better'' that means I should. The second sentence ''had better'', is stronger and more immediate than ''should'' and is often used as a warning. Really, it is the kind of knowledge you need to memorize. It is my last semester of English class, and the most hard I think. The listenings have been so long and I need to pay much attencion to understand something. But I appreciate my New English File books (from Oxford University Press), and maked it with pleasure.

My English classes came back resumed on Tuesday, but I was absent from it (cannot use 'it' since you said 'classes' plural) that day. From this Tuesday we have been learning about/studying past modals like ''must have, may/might/could have, can't have and should have''.

Besides it we started learning about these sentences such as: ''I'd rather'' that means ''I prefer'', and I'd better'' that means I should. The second sentence ''had better'', is stronger and more immediate than ''should'' (is it? there is certainly an 'or else...' connotation to it) and is often used as a warning. Really, it is the kind of language knowledge you just need to memorize (since there is no rule or logic to it).

It is my last semester of English class, and the most difficult/hardest I think. The listenings have been so long and I need to pay much close attention to understand someeverything. But I appreciate my New English File books (from Oxford University Press), and maked marked? (not sure what verb you want here) it them with pleasure.
