In every school year, students are obliged to
study science subjects such as maths, biology and chemistry, even if they don’t
like them. Research reveals that students who are keen on human subjects (humanities) have a lot
of difficulty studying science subjects.
First of all, on the one hand it is
true that it is important to have a basic knowledge of science subjects. On the
other hand, it is unnecessary to study them every school year in order to learn
the basics. Some students get fed up with maths, biology and chemistry, so it is
important that at a certain time they can follow their interests by studying subjects
that are useful for their future.
However, it cannot be denied that there are lot of future careers in science. According to research, nowadays there aren’t enough
applications for science careers. The demand for teachers in science subjects
is increasing.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, the school syllabus should
be modified so that students can choose to follow the subjects they are interested
in. Studying subjects while zoning out (this is an informal phrase, 'losing concentration' is better) is not good and it does not improve
students’ knowledge.
