Qual a diferença entre "town" e "city" ? Me ajudem pois essas duas palavras em portugues significam 'cidade'

A city is usually larger (bigger) than a town.

Another difference is that a city -- at least in the USA -- has it own local government, often called a "city council." A town usually doesn't have its own government. Rather, the town is subject to the laws of the larger region in which the town is located. The larger region is usually a "county."
