What does "the lighting aisle" mean? Hello, I have some question about the phrase in the sentence below. I would be grateful if you could help me understand it. Thank you very much in advance. "A company's 60w replacement LED is a standard bearer of the lighting aisle." In this sentence, what does "the lighting isle" mean? Is it referring to something like a variety or line of lighting products? or the lighting market? Also, in the sentence below, can it be paraphrased like, joining the market of light bulbs and lights are not simple anymore as it used to be and now performing well in the market becomes more complicated with the new products named below? "the once-simple visit to the lighting aisle has become an exercise in navigating a dizzying array of choices and terminologies, especially for new kinds of compact fluorescents and LEDs." Big shops / stores are usually divided into "aisles", each of which displays a related range of products e.g. fruit and vegetables, frozen food, dairy items (in supermarkets). Large DIY / hardware shops typically have a "lighting aisle" which displays products relating to lighting e.g. lamps, light bulbs.

An aisle in english means something similiar to a corridor. In a supermarket, an aisle is each of the corridors full of products on each side of you. A LED lighting aisle is a corridor illuminated by small LED lights, like the ones in the cinema, theaters or planes that show you the way to your seat when it is dark.
