It sounds like the speaker said or did something to offend the other person. The other person then replied something like "you should be more careful!" The speaker then is sorry that he (or she) offended the other person and promises to be careful until the other person says it's ok.

Let me tell you that I will be careful for the rest of our lives unless I am asked not to.

I'll be careful till somebody tells me not to be careful.
