A hard question. Good - I will try to help. kind and type - are almost the same (depending on the meaning). I can say, "There are 3 different kinds of cars", and I can also say, "There are 3 different types of cars here". or "There are three different sorts of cars". The words have several different meanings each. Mostly very different. So pay close attention to the examples. Range is very different. Example: "There is a range of cars.
