Sometimes it depends on the sentence, but anyway, "in più" generally means "also/too" "di più" means "more" (and can usually be expressed with just "più") Più/di più: Devi imparare ad ascoltare di più - You have to learn to listen more Vorrei più formaggio - I'd like more cheese Corri più forte/Corri di più! - Run faster/Run More! In più: Ordinerò il filetto, in più vorrei l'insalata - I'll order the filet, and I'd like also the salad (or, the salad too) Ho già chiamato C. e M., in più devo pure chiamare gli altri - I already called C. and M. and I also have to call the Others This is the general use of both, but sometimes "in più" can mean "more" too (when related to non specific amounts or quantities, like "some-" or "any-" etc): Devi dare qualcosa in più - You have to give something more Oggi rimango qualche ora in più - Today I'll stay some more Vorrei DEL formaggio in più - I'd like SOME more cheese Hope I kinda made it clear, it wasn't an easy one :)

Nice question! Let me try... -Di più- I think in these cases you are comparing: Questo orologio vale "di più" di quello --> this watch is worth "more" than that. Dai, puoi fare molto "di più"! --> Come on, you can do "more" than this! In these cases the idea is that you need/want more: Delizioso! Ne voglio "di più"/ ancora! --> Delicious, I want "more"! --> We have few points, we need "more" to win. Devo bere "di più". --> I need to drink "more". -In più- In these cases the meaning is "more than expected": Mi ha addebitato 20 euro "in più", può rifare il conto, per favore? --> You have charged me 20 euro "more". Can you redo the bill, please? --> I'll give you one "more" clue: it's green. Alla fine siamo 12. Ci sono due persone "in più". Avete una camera doppia "in più"? --> It turned out we are 12. There are two people "more". Have you got one doble room "more", please? While in these cases, "in più" has the same meaning of "anche", "inoltre": Questa casa fa per voi: ha cucina, sala e camera da letto. "In più" ha un bel balcone e un garage. --> This house is right for you: it has a kitchen, a dining room and a bedroom. It "also" has a nice balcony and a garage. --> I'm tired! I cleaned the house, I did the laundry and the ironing. "In addition", I prepared the cake for tonight. --> I'll take the salad, the chicken...and "also"...a portion of chips, too.
