When I need to give more information in a informal conversation. For example,
1. The park is very close my home, (I mean/say/you know/well) about ten minutes away by foot

which one should I use here?
do these parenthesis have any difference? Could you give me more examples to demonstrate their usage?

Answer

Parenthesis are generally used when they don't flow as part of the normal sentence.  If the sentence is read without the parenthesis it is still a complete sentence.  Example:

1. Gerald knew that his boss was angry at him (although this was nothing new) because he had not been able to close the sale.
