'Movie' and 'film' are synonyms. 'A cinema' (or a movie theatre) is a place where films are shown. 'Cinema' without the article would refer to the film industry as a whole.

Movie and film mean the same, some Americans even use the word "show" to mean movie Cinema is the (movie/film) industry.
