'Put' and 'Locate'. Do they sound natural here? Examples: - The word #1 has to be put after the word #2. - The word #1 has to be located after the word #2. Do these sentences sound natural to you? And do you see any difference between the two sentences in meaning? Thank you very much.

I would say that the most natural way to say this may be to say : 'The first word must follow the second word,' or 'the second word needs to come before the first word.'

"put" or "placed". "to place something" is to actively put something in a specific location. "to locate" something is to find it.

Very difficult to say without more context. On their own, these examples feel very artificial.
