Chinese people will usually say "最近生意可好？"

In China, "How's business" is just a conventional greeting like "how are you". It means 最近生意还好吗? 工作怎么样? 生意可好?

You can say"业务进展如何？"　trust me. I'm Chinese. No kidding.

just mean"生意怎么样？"most of the time, we just ask like asking "have you get breakfast/lunch/supper?", and this is mostly used to ask some one who deal with business. And also like a kind greeting just like"HOW ARE YOU" most of the time!

If you are asking an employee about his career Then "最近工作怎么样","工作上有什么进展吗" is appropriate. If you are asking a businessman. Then it would be better when 工作 is replaced by 生意. But in fact.. I am not quite sure about the meaning of "How's business.."
