My name is Cate, and I am a patient and enthusiastic italki Community English Tutor. My accent is neutral because I am from the South of England, and I have a Bachelor's Honours Degree in Acting and Musical Theatre, so I am trained to speak English using the standard Received Pronunciation.
At school, the languages I studied were Russian (in one year to take an exam), Latin and French - the latter I now speak to Advanced level. I also learned many Italian words through my violin and piano studies. Therefore, I truly understand the challenges faced by language learners.
My other interests are hiking, history, arts and crafts, gardening, nature, the humanities such as spiritual philosophy.ฉันในฐานะผู้สอน
I have Qualified Teacher Status - the licence needed to teach in English State Education, and nine years of teaching experience and expertise. My aim is to help you feel confident and become independent using spoken and written English. I love to include plenty of speaking opportunities in my lessons as I believe that they are vital to help you become confident and proficient. I can also help you with general English, for example, grammar and creative writing. I structure my lessons according to your needs. As an English teacher in Multicultural London, I have taught non-native students, who have come to live in the UK from all around the world. Many of my students have naturally felt very nervous about starting to speak English, and so it is very rewarding for me to see them develop confidence. I use various strategies to help my students gain this independence: role-play, gesture, props, picture word banks, scaffold sentences and clear pronunciation. In addition, I will speak English at a speed that is suitable for you.
I also plan and prepare interesting topics that are relevant to you and your life for us to talk about.

I really enjoyed this lesson. The conversation felt natural and comfortable. We spoke about travel, which is a topic I’m interested in, and I had many opportunities to speak. Cate is friendly, encouraging, and easy to understand. I feel more confident after each lesson.

I don't know how many lessons I had with Cate so far but I notice how much I have improved in the meanwhile. Today we talked about a book I'm currently reading and had a great conversation about the contents and also other topics.
I absolutely can recommend Cate as a tutor!
