With a background in private and classroom tuition, I have practical experience in a variety of teaching environments. I taught school children aged two to fifteen in Japan for almost five years (a trial by fire!) and always strived to create fun, engaging lessons that were relevant to the students. I find grammar-heavy teaching methods ineffective - there is more to language learning than memorising grammar rules! I try to make my lessons as fun as possible. While I focus on providing conversation practice, I understand that an hour is a long time to talk (for me too!), especially if you are new to the language. As such, I split my lessons into two parts. The first part is a casual conversation. Tell me about your week! This will be followed by an exercise in the form of a worksheet. I have various exercises in PDF format for practising English grammar points. I will send these to you via Skype during the lesson. For advanced students, we can read news articles and real media written for native speakers.
