¡Hola! Hello, Premium Language Instruction. Advanced Certified Teacher and Translator with over 20 years experience. 16 years living in Latin America. 10 years online. Domino el español. Let's get started! My interests have always been in language, travel and outdoor sports, but I like learning new completely random things that have nothing to do with my main interests. I like science and wildlife. I was born and raised in New Jersey, in the northeast of the United States of America. I'm probably a bit more excited about language than even my students are. I focus on what will work best for my student. Should I speak slowly, quickly, make the subject matter easy or challenging. Importantly, what does the student want from the class. That's what I try to do. I never thought I would become a teacher. Since I was 18 years old I started tutoring and then one after another opportunity came up in which I found myself teaching. I realized that I loved teaching. Since I didn't go through the normal route to get a teaching certificate in college, when I finally did start teaching I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best teacher I could be and to really reach my students. My classes are private, so I try to customize the class for each student and to identify their needs. It actually takes a few classes to do this, which is difficult because the student usually expects you to figure it out quickly. I try to help each person to reach their language goals of fluency and to give them the skills to be a better language learner so that they aren't dependent upon me or any other teacher or material. Excellent instruction, we concentrated on pronunciation and my home study routine.
Con; The whiteboard and screen share features are glitchy on the Italki platform, maybe because I’m on an iPad? Next lesson I will use a laptop and see if it’s better.
