I was born & brought up in the countryside of Hertfordshire, England, spellbound by the great outdoors. After spending a number of years living in Hong Kong, Kunming & Bangkok, I eventually settled down with my wife amidst the highlands of Lanna, Northern Thailand where we raise our two young children whom my time is devoted to when not teaching. When I can, I love nothing better than to embark on new explorations of the mountain forests, photographing & documenting local fauna & wildlife. I also keep fit with Daoist exercises & gardening, enjoy loose leaf teas, cook with beans, study Chinese etymology, embark on home DIY projects & catch up on tech & world current affairs.
Having taught in Asian schools since 2003, I switched to italki in 2014 because it facilitates a greater opportunity for STUDENT CENTERED-LEARNING via one-to-one private lessons whilst reaching a broader diversity of students offering greater flexibility. Ten years later & I've taught approximately 1000 students here. Providing BESPOKE LESSONS, I will ask you: What are your personal goals? What are your individual needs? What are your various interests?
My philosophy as a teacher is to:
GUIDE the student fueled with inspiration.
ASSIST the student when they hit roadblocks.
INSPIRE the student when they feel lost.
Guide, assist and inspire – that’s what I do.
