My name is Erika. I'm from the US. I live in Toulouse, France. I have also lived in Canada, Ireland and Belgium. I love learning and meeting new people. I love learning languages. I speak fluent French which I began learning while living for 6 years in the French speaking part of Belgium. I am still passionate about learning and improving my French. I recently completed a Masters degree in French and Francophone studies from the University of Toulouse, Jean Jaurès in France. I also have a background in music and I have a masters degree in opera performance.
I completed my training to become a TEFL certified English teacher through TEFL Toulouse in France in 2020. I offer both formal and informal lessons. I have lots of experience with helping people improve their English skills through language exchanges, mostly in English and French. I taught English to recent immigrants to the United States from many countries around the world as a volunteer in Massachusetts in 2018.
During our lessons we will focus on improving your French or English through conversation. We will work together on improving your grammar, pronunciation and expanding your vocabulary! With my background as a classically trained singer I am particularly qualified to help you with your pronunciation in English and French. I know lots of tips and even vocal exercises that will help you master the sometimes difficult pronunciation of English and French words! A wonderful teacher — patient and attentive to pronunciation. The first 45 minutes are spent on conversation, followed by 15 minutes focused on correcting pronunciation and grammar.
She’s one of the rare teachers on Italki who truly knows how to encourage students. I also love her cheerful laughter — it’s always so infectious and uplifting
