Iyo-Sensei is the best! Especially if you occasionally need to slip into English, she’s incredibly supportive and understanding. She’s very skilled at asking thoughtful questions that keep the conversation flowing naturally, which makes it much easier to practice speaking without feeling pressured. One thing I really appreciate is that when she understands what I’m trying to say, she doesn’t interrupt to correct every small mistake. That approach has been a huge confidence-builder for me and helps me stay focused on communicating rather than worrying about being perfect. She’s also very patient when I struggle to find the right words or express a complicated idea, always giving me time to think and helping when needed without making me feel uncomfortable. Her classes have a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere that makes speaking Japanese feel much less intimidating, and I’ve noticed myself becoming more confident and natural in conversation because of her teaching style.

Iyo-sensei is a wonderful and patient teacher! We always have such engaging conversations which really challenges me to use a wide variety of words and grammar. She encourages whenever I have to stop and think before speaking. I truly look forward to speaking with her every week because I know I’m going to walk away from our lesson more confident in my Japanese.

I have been studying Japanese since July 2025, and Iyo is my first and only Japanese teacher. I have a lot of experience studying foreign languages. During lessons with Iyo, I have to think every second—there are no pauses—and I really appreciate that. I highly recommend this outstanding teacher.
