Most learners understand more Swedish than they can actually speak.
They hesitate, translate in their head, or repeat the same mistakes without knowing how to fix them.
I help you move from that to clearer, more automatic Swedish through structured conversation and targeted correction.
I’ve also learned languages myself, including Japanese, which I used to live and work in. That experience shapes how I help different types of learners improve.

My lessons are not random conversations.
I teach in a structured, responsive way that helps you improve how you actually speak. During the lesson, I listen closely for recurring issues in your Swedish and help you correct them in a way that sticks.
That can include:
- sentence structure
- word choice
- pronunciation
- rhythm and flow
- unnatural phrasing
- repeated grammar mistakes
The goal is not just to “practice Swedish.” The goal is to make your Swedish more accurate, natural, and automatic over time.

My teaching is built around active speaking, because that’s where many learners get stuck. Many understand Swedish, but struggle to use it freely.
In our lessons, I help you close that gap through structured conversation, active guidance, and targeted correction.

Omg, Mel is such a patient and yet enthusiastic teacher in our weekly Swedish conversation class! Always on time, brings great vibes to each lesson, very helpful with vocabulary and grammar tips. Her experience abroad and multiple languages she has studied gives her a global perspective and language learning sensibilities. Her location in N Sweden gives a new perspective on life in this country, rather than just the Stockholm point of view. Living in N Sweden myself, I appreciate this. On top of it all Mel is just plain fun. It's a bright point every week when we meet and I then fumble through Swedish with nothing but encouragement from her. Absolutely my favorite language teacher ever.
