Hello! I'm a native Finnish speaker currently located in Finland. I have previously lived in the UK for a few years as I obtained my undergraduate degree there. I love adventures, whether it's in the form of traveling, hiking or exploring the nature. I also love learning about different cultures and languages and like to dedicate my past time to foreign language learning. My main focus has been on Korean for a few years now, but I have recently started to learn Chinese too. My other hobbies include rollerskating, sometimes a bit of drawing and I enjoy cooking as well. When I'm not too busy, I also enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with a good movie or a TV show.ฉันในฐานะผู้สอน
I have a teaching degree in English Language and Teaching from the University of Greenwich, England, as well as a Master's degree in Multilingual Communication and Translation from Tampere University, Finland, giving me a strong knowledge base in language acquisition and efficient ways to teach a language. As a teacher, I like to create a friendly and relaxed learning environment, where my students do not have to be afraid of making mistakes. I would also encourage my students to experiment with different learning styles to find which methods motivate them the most to keep going, not forgetting to have a little fun during the process!บทเรียนและรูปแบบการสอนของฉัน
I like listening to my students and what they expect or want from the lessons, so my lessons will look a little different depending on the students' personal learning goals. But in general, we can have casual conversations, we can go over grammar points you find difficult and I can introduce you to small exercises that you can do on your own time if you want to exercise those language muscles outside of our classes. And, if you are someone who is not so sure on how to progress or what to focus on, I'd be happy to guide you to a path that will lead to improved skills.สื่อการสอนของฉัน

Miriam has been always so patient and detail-oriented in her classes 😊. I have had many lessons with her, and I must say I really enjoy them. I would highly recommend her to others, especially those who are afraid to practice speaking.

What really held me back in Finnish was avoiding mistakes by expressing advanced ideas in roundabout ways. But Miriam makes me so comfortable with mistakes that I can speak naturally and even guess new Finnish words without that subconscious fear of being wrong. This shift is the difference between always being a guest in someone else's language and feeling like Finnish is truly my own. I have never felt so certain that I was on the correct life path.

Miriam is quite possibly the best language teacher on all of Italki. It's a great joy to have a teacher who trusts natural methods and is not a prescriptivist. The only double-edged sword (Finnish: kaksiteräinen miekka) of having a teacher like Miriam is finding new teachers for my other languages that exhibit such a high standard of excellence.

One of the most underrated aspects of language learning is finding a teacher who you genuinely enjoy speaking with. Miriam is that "once in a year" Finnish teacher, and the lesson time flies by so quickly.
