Hello! I’m Fardosa, a native Somali speaker passionate about helping students learn Somali in a practical, engaging, and meaningful way. I’m fluent in Somali, Swahili, and English, which allows me to support learners from diverse backgrounds and make lessons clear and relatable.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your fluency, I tailor each lesson to your personal goals. My teaching approach combines grammar, conversation, and cultural insights to help you build confidence step by step. I create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
Beyond language, I introduce students to Somali culture and its rich traditions, storytelling, music, and strong sense of community. Understanding the culture helps you connect more deeply and communicate more naturally.
My teaching style is interactive and student-centered. I use practical examples and exercises to make learning useful in everyday situations. I also adapt to different learning styles whether visual, auditory, or practice-based so you get the most out of each lesson.
I provide customized materials based on your level and goals, ensuring each session is productive, engaging, and enjoyable.
My goal is to help you become confident in speaking and understanding Somali while developing a genuine appreciation for the language and culture.

I wanted a one-time 1-hour lesson just to learn a couple phrases so I could try to order a meal at the Somali restaurants that I will be visiting next week. I started at zero, knowing no Somali at all, but I came away feeling like I can go in and greet the owners and read a little of the menu! Fardosa’s explanations are very clear and organized, and she is lovely and warm. I really enjoyed the lesson; I just needed this little crash course, but Fardosa is such a good teacher, it makes me want to learn more.
