I'm currently a Pharmacy student, but my passion for literature and Portuguese has been with me since childhood. I learned English on my own, and later expanded to French and Spanish, which allowed me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and explore much more than just the languages themselves! I realized that every language offers a fresh perspective on the world and opens new universes to explore! I also discovered my love for teaching during college, through social projects, and joining iTalki has been a great opportunity to combine both passions.

As a teacher, I am dedicated, organized, and creative. I believe in the proven effectiveness of active learning methods and spaced repetition, and I strive to create a fun and engaging environment that incorporates games, art, and culture. My classes are dynamic and interactive, with a strong focus on speaking, though I can also include writing and reading if those areas need practice. I believe that with every student I teach, I refine my approach, tailoring lessons to meet your specific needs. I currently offer two main types of classes: Conversational Portuguese and Portuguese for Beginners.
In the Conversational Portuguese class, I tailor the content to your level and interests, whether it's discussing Brazil, getting deep into slangs or idiomatic expressions, or exploring movies, music, and cultural aspects. I also send a summary with new words and exercises after the lesson, along with additional resources like movies and books to enhance your learning.
For Beginners (A1/A2), I use materials such as books and exercises to teach grammar and vocabulary, focusing on active practice and in tracking your progress.

Catarina is a great teacher, very friendly and relaxed, but always able to provide useful corrections and explanations when needed. She finds fun and interesting ways to learn Portuguese and has given me great advice on how to practice outside of the classes too. I highly recommend her if you’re looking to learn Brazilian Portuguese! 😊

Catarina is one of the best Italki teachers I’ve worked with. She is very patient and presents and explains the material in a way that’s very understandable. She is also very encouraging! I certainly would recommend her if you’re interested in learning Portuguese 😊
