こんにちは！🙋♀️ My name is Akane. I'm from Yokohama ⛵️, Japan, and I currently live in Switzerland with my husband and our adorable Shiba Inu 🐕. I speak English (B2) and German (B1), so I can support you in multiple languages if needed 🇺🇸🇩🇪.

I teach one-on-one lessons on italki and also run group lessons every Friday at a Berufschule in Switzerland. I completed a 1-year Japanese Teacher Training Course (420 hours) at a Japanese university and hold a professional Japanese teaching certificate 🧑🏫. I have taught over 400 hours in total.
I’m also currently studying Linguistics and English Literature at an online university, which helps me understand how languages work and how people learn them.

In my lessons, I use textbooks like GENKI, Minna no Nihongo, and Quartet. I teach by annotating the textbooks on PowerPoint, so you don’t need to have a physical copy of the book ☺︎.
Of course, we can also use JLPT preparation textbooks, and if you prefer, we can focus just on speaking practice.

Every lesson with Akane is enjoyable. Her teaching style is relaxed, so I don't feel under pressure, but I still learn a lot. We are making rapid progress with the material and I can already see how much my Japanese has improved. I am looking forward to future lessons.

Today we finished Genki I, and I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Akane in Genki II. Thanks to her, I am always motivated to keep learning outside of class and not lose focus.
She always explains the tasks to me in a very understandable way and helps me when I get stuck. Without her, I would not have made such great progress, which is why I am very grateful to her.
