Mrs Malay is warm, supportive and energising – I think any student with her as a teacher will go a long way just from the sheer motivation she provides. She knows her stuff as well, eg the cross-cultural etymology of Malay words. She clearly has a vast quantity of material (which she hand makes herself as well). It was really fun speaking with her about the Malay already present in Singlish, and learning new Malay words from her.
