My friend Danny and I have been taking lessons with Mel-san for a over year now. She is an amazing teacher!!!!! She is always incredibly patient and kind no matter how many mistakes we make. Whenever our studies falter when life gets busy, she is always so understanding and willing to work at any pace. Mel-san will also teach native Japanese grammar or phrases that the textbooks can be outdated on. She is good at creating a fun, but productive environment for learning. We've loved classes with Mel-san!!!!

I have been taking Japanese lessons with Mel-sensei for about a year and a half, and I would never have made the progress I have without her patient and kind help. She's a wonderful teacher and a kind and patient person, and I recommend her highly!

Mel 先生 is a really patient and wonderful teacher. Her emphasis on conversational skills has been tremendously helpful in training my brain to become more comfortable and better at using what I’ve learned. Her pacing is also great; I never feel rushed to move past points that I haven’t quite grasped yet. Thank you for another great lesson!

Mal is professional and attentive. She does a good job adjusting lessons to the student's goals and skill level. She's easy to talk to and practice with, and offers corrections and adjustments appropriately. My wife and I really appreciated the opportunities she created for us to solidify concepts we were already familiar with in addition to leaving the conversation flexible and open to understanding new ideas and words. She was incredibly warm and patient and made our first session memorable. We look forward to learning more from her!

日本語を学ぶなら、メル先生に限るよ！ I’ve been a student of Mel’s for nearly 5 years and she has always been my constant cheerleader and mentor, all the way from when I came to her as a novice with basic Japanese knowledge studying for the JLPT N5 exam, supporting me through an ongoing university degree in Japanese, a year abroad in Japan, and now preparing for the JLPT N3 exam in July! She is completely flexible to your learning needs, tailors content to your level and works at your pace. She is always happy to explain things in detail and answer any questions you have, however small or silly they may feel to you! She has so much patience and is one of the kindest people I have ever met. I can guarantee you will come away from a lesson with Mel feeling motivated and willing to put the extra effort into your Japanese studies. My first lesson with Mel-sensei was amazing! She did a great job gauging my level of Japanese and asking me open-ended questions to practice speaking. I definitely look forward to booking more lessons with her.
