Thuy is an incredibly gifted teacher. She always knows how to help me advance in my study of Vietnamese and she is very, very patient! Lessons with Thuy are always fun and interesting. She is the best teacher and also a very kind and generous person.

Thuy is an exceptional teacher. I could write this review in Vietnamese, but I’m sharing it in English so more students can find her. I absolutely love our lessons. Thuy gives me so much space to speak, and my confidence and vocabulary have improved tremendously as a result. She creates a really safe, supportive environment, and she’s also very intentional about giving me time to find the words she knows I might already have. That helps me more than I can say. I also really appreciate how she writes down new words we use and keeps notes of our conversations in Vietnamese, so I can see exactly what I’ve said and learn from it. A genuinely wonderful experience.

Thúy has helped me study Vietnamese for 8 months now. I started out only knowing “Xin chào” and “Cảm ơn”, and have now made a trip to Hanoi where I held basic conversations with native speakers. Thúy provides a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy for you to say “I don’t understand this, can you explain it?” Especially with the tones, where I felt embarrassed by how many times I had to practice, but she was always patient and helped me get it right. And she continues to correct me with pronunciation each lesson! You can’t learn a language in only a few hours each week, so you have to practice on your own outside of class, and Thúy recommended great resources to help me in studying Vietnamese outside of our class time.

We spent a long time talking about hiking and camping in the mountains. It was a really good chance to practice Vietnamese conversation. I learned a lot of new terms and grammar. Very enjoyable session.

We talked a lot about kayaking and I was able to practice a lot of new vocabulary words. It will give me a chance to focus on new subject matter in Vietnamese.
