Hello, my name is Alex and I teach English on italki. I'm originally from London and I've been living and working in Barcelona for the last five years. My main hobbies are practicing sport, going to the cinema, and going to cultural exchanges. I am fluent in Spanish and I have an intermediate level of French after spending a year in Paris for my Erasmus year. I have travelled a lot the United Kingdom, as well as in the United States so I can teach you all about how the language varies in these different areas.

My main goal is to make you help you grow in confidence when having conversations in English. From my personal experience in learning languages, the most effective way has been through telling stories and having discussions without the fear of making mistakes. By relaxing and having fun, I feel you can make the best of your abilities, and learn a skill which will accompany you for years to come!

My lessons are conversational, to help you feel more comfortable about speaking English. In preparation for each lesson, we'll agree on a topic - be it from the news, or something in which you have a particular interest - and we'll structure the conversation around it. To keep the conversation flowing, I'll take notes of specific words and phrases, and at the end of each lesson, we'll dedicate time to review them so they stay in your memory for the next time.
