Social Anthropology Certificate - Escuela de Antropología e Historia del Norte de México - 2015I was required to undergo a 2 year training period in order to become a social anthropologist. This allowed me to deepen my research and teaching skills towards culture, language & education. It also enabled me to apply for a PhD.

Translation Certificate - Escuela de Antropología e Historia del Norte de México - 2016I was given the task of translating a documentary on an indigenous group. I had to translate from spanish to english and produce the subtitles for it.

Anthropology Certificate - Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia - 2010I had to undergo a training of 4 years in order to become an anthropologist. As stated before, this field is closely related to the educational field. This certificate enabled me to teach and do research. As for it's usefulness for italki, I had to undertake a linguistics course, which allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the spanish language.

ปริญญาเอก - Cultural StudiesI'm on my second year as a PhD student and, given the field that I'm on, there's a constant emphasis on the eduacational aspect of culture. My research subjects reside all along the US-Mexico border (both sides) and this has given me the opportunity to interact with different types of communities, this has sharpened my understanding of both english and spanish.

Bachelor’s - AnthropologyAn part of my professional training to become an anthropologist, I had to take a course on linguistics, which gave me thorough knowledge of spanish.
2013 - 2015
ปริญญาโท - Social AnthropologyThe anthropological field is extremely close -if not part- of the educational field. During my training as a social anthropologist I had to undertake a course on "Interculturality, education and language"; this provided me with the necessary tools to improve my teaching skills both in english and spanish.

ProfessorSoon after finishing my Master's Degree I was given a position at the school where I studied. The subject was called "Teorías Sociológicas" (Sociological Theories) and I was in charge of a group of 30 students. This was my first time teaching at a university and, as you can expect, it gave me plenty of experience in regard to my approach to the teaching-learning process. I had to quit as soon as the first semester ended because I was accepted into a PhD program.
2015 - 2016
Technical SecretaryWhen I was finished with my Master's Degree, I was assigned to the technical secretariat at the university where I studied. As such, I was in charge of organizing everything related to the upcoming generation of students: call for applications, interviews and testing of candidates, among others.

ESL TeacherI was an ESL Teacher for 7th to 9th grade & high school students. This was the first time that I was in charge of more than one group of students and, at first, it was very challenging. A few weeks in, though, I got the hang of it and received lots of positive feedback from the parents and the students. Naturally, this is a huge experience that has helped me here on italki, during the tutoring sessions that I give.

Charles is everything I've been looking for in a tutor! (I'm allergic to lesson plans and have had a hard time finding anyone who will roll with me) Charles is very flexible, offers invaluable usage insight, is engaged, and genuinely interested in your growth.

Charles is a fantastic italki teacher. He is fluent in both Spanish and English, which allows him to both (1) offer assistance in both languages and (2) understand what you are trying to say if you are translating English phrases literally into Spanish (this is often overlooked, but is a *huge* help).
He is also very easy to talk to, which is essential in a conversational partner. In addition to the keeping the conversation flowing, he has a keen grasp of grammar and vocab, and was able to help me with both colloquial phrases and fine distinctions between words.
