Hola, ¿qué tal? Soy Matías👋. I'm a writer, blogger, musician, and language geek. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, I've been living in a small town in the province of Córdoba forthe last two years. Whether you've already started exploring the Spanish jungle or you're considering paying it a visit, I'm here to help you understand and appreciate Spanish language in its natural habitat. I'll be your (sort of spiritual) guide into the apparent chaos. My intention is to show you that behind the seeming chaos, everything makes sense. I've been a full-time language tutor since 2014. Throughout my teaching journey, I've had the opportunity to introduce elementary students to Spanish and guide them through. I've coached intermediate students to achieve fluency and improve their pronunciation. I've also helped students with academic papers and prepared candidates for exams and interviews.
I'm committed to helping you stay motivated and on track. My intent is to create a warm, immersive learning environment to keep you in the 'language learning mood'. I believe in having a relaxed and open tutor-student relationship. I don't want to be seen as the one who knows everything and is always right, which is why I steer clear of the masterclass format. Instead, I strive to provide clear explanations and guidance while encouraging you to get involved and really understand and use the language.
I particularly enjoy onboarding beginner students and activating their language learning superpowers to speak Spanish fluently and confidently as soon as possible. I'm always searching for useful resources to make the learning process both efficient and enjoyable.

Spanish Teaching Training Course - International House Buenos Aires - 2013I made this training course in one of Buenos Aires' best language schools. It was designed to give ELE teachers a comprehensive background into language teaching. We got practice straight away with foreign students and the experience was both valuable and useful in terms of the knowledge they shared and advice and suggestions given.

Neuroscience applied to teaching - Asociación Educar para el Desarrollo Humano - 2018During 2017 and the first part of 2018 I completed a training course on Neuropsychoeducation, that is, Neuroscience applied to learning. It was an eye opening insight into how we react to new experiences and how we process information. Ever since then, I've applied the knowledge acquired to my language teaching.

Bachelor’s - LawyerI graduated as a lawyer from University of Buenos Aires, one of the country's most prestigious public universities, in 2011. Upon graduation I worked as an attorney for some years but I'm currently not doing any law-related work, except those involving language teaching. I have regular classes and courses with foreign law students or people related to the 'legal world'.

English TeacherFormerly a student in my school days, until I moved in to Córdoba I was an English teacher here. I used to have regular courses of students aged 9-18 and I'd tutor the older ones to sit for FCE exams. I also teach adults, tailoring my classes to fit their needs. I have a great time switching to my "English self" for a few hour every day.
Since we've moved to Córdoba, my courses have stayed virtual.
2014 - 2022
Spanish TeacherI decided I wanted to teach Spanish after living for 6 months in Brazil. While living there I had the chance to teach Spanish to hotel staff and felt it was exactly what I wanted to do wherever I was. Once I was properly trained, we included Spanish as a Foreign Language as part of the course offers. We've had students coming to study, but most of all, over the Internet, and well before the pandemic hit!

Matías is an excellent teacher with a great personality. It is so easy to talk to him and I have never had a boring lesson or conversation with him. The way he suggests corrections is very useful and encouraging at the same time. Thanks to Matías, I am more confident in conversing in Spanish and looking forward to taking my DELE.

Great class with Matias! He articulates so well and his Spanish is easy to understand. Matias has an awesome Argentinian accent too which is really cool to hear. I learned quite a few new words too. I appreciate that Matias would gently point out any mistakes that I made. He does it too in a manner that is totally supportive as well. We talked about many different topics. I hope to take other classes with him to keep up with my Spanish. Muchas gracias Matías!

I really enjoyed my trial session with Matias and it didn't take long before I realized I'd set up more lessons with him. He's knowledgeable, patient and attentive. He also did an excellent job understanding where I was coming from, drawing in knowledge from another language.
I'm looking forward to building my Spanish skills under his guidance.

Matías's lesson was fun and dynamic! He is easy to talk to, passionate about teaching and languages in general and his Argentinian accent is perfect for someone who lives in/plan to travel to Argentina or wants to know in-depth about it. I recommend his lesson for anyone learning Spanish, especially beginners like me.
