I'm Clara Chihyu Chen (陳芝羽), a Chinese teacher with a unique teaching approach. I hold a Master's degree in Marketing📈📍 from the US and lived there for six years, which has made me proficient in English. With a background in Theatre🎬 and seven years of experience, I bring creativity and enthusiasm to my lessons. I have taught over 185 students and conducted over 1020 lessons, honing my skills and creating a teaching style that's engaging, effective, and tailored to each student's needs.

I can teach Chinese at all levels. My teaching style is more interactive and immersion.
For high-level students, I recommend taking one speaking practice class per week to maintain your Chinese speaking ability. We can discuss anything in this class, just like you would with a Chinese friend😀👋🏼. You can update me about your life or practice new sentences you've learned. I am a Chinese teaching assistant for more than a year at the school. I customize teaching materials (PowerPoint) in the class for students to learn. I know how to describe and explain very well based on my theater background. I'm also a volunteer Chinese tutor at a Chinese club for more than two years. I have many experiences to teach English speakers how to learn Chinese.

Chinese teaching assistantAs a Chinese teaching assistant, I teach four classes per week. I give and correct papers on tests, assignments, and projects. I need to teach the whole class about 40 American students by myself. I can speak fluent English to help students have a better understanding. I love teaching Chinese, and students love my teaching methods. I have been teaching on italki since 2018, and students always give me very good feedback. I believe I totally qualify as a professional Chinese teacher.!

I'm on the 10 days journaling challenge, and it's the best decision yet. I'm still on a very basic level, but the fact that I can just freestyle without any pressure has meant that I'm getting more confident in producing my own Chinese sentences. Clara Chen is such an amazing teacher and I'll definitely do this again at some other point in my Chinese learning curve.
